A Platinum Jubilee Celebration

A Platinum Jubilee Celebration

8 May - 5 June 2022

Take a walk through a timeline of street parties with items donated by members of the public and watch previously unseen footage of Her Majesty The Queen in this special exhibition marking the Queen’s platinum jubilee.

Discover more about the Museum’s links to Royalty and see our special visitors book signed by Their Majesties The Queen and The Queen Mother and His Royal Highness Prince Philip.

The exhibition also features a film of street parties in Barnard Castle, three Turner watercolours and a model of Streatlam Castle, the ancestral home of Museum founder John Bowes, who was a distant relative of The Queen Mother.  As well as the rare footage of The Queen there are also portraits by the renowned artist Philip De László, who painted lots of powerful and influential people including members of the Bowes-Lyon family.
