The Bowes Museum is open daily. Closed only 25 & 26 December & 1 January.

The Silver Swan plays daily at 2.00.

Guided Tours, Daily at 11.30
Free daily 1-hour long tours by our team of Volunteer Guides until the end of October.

A selection of The Bowes Museum’s Spanish masterpieces are on loan to the Meadows Museum in Dallas, including: the Tears of Saint Peter by El Greco; the Interior of a Prison and Portrait of Juan Antonio Melédez Valdes by Goya; Portrait of a Carmelite Monk by Juan Baustista Maino and Tobias Restoring his Father’s Sight by Antonio de Pereda y Salgado.

Gallery Closures


 
   
24 November The Blue Picture Gallery will be closed from 2.00 for the Afternoon Tea with Jazz event. 
 28 November  The Blue Picture Gallery will be closed from 10.00 - 12.00 and 2.00 to 4.30 for workshops inspired by the Guido Reni exhibition. The workshops are in collaboration with local school students and supported by County Durham Community Foundation. 
13 - 15 December  During the Christmas Market 13 - 15 December, access to the Museum and grounds will be via the front gates only, and admission charges will apply to the grounds and Museum
