Join performance poet Tony Gadd for a fun and informal writing workshop inspired by the Norman Cornish exhibition.
Join #Untitled10 artist Claire A Baker for a friendly and relaxed workshop. Using traditional stitched tapestry techniques (tent stitch) with a contemporary colour palette, you will produce a personal and unique creative embroidery piece. This workshop was inspired by Claire’s recent work with the Chernobyl Babushkas - a small number of women with an average age of 78, who still live inside the exclusion zone. This workshop is suitable for all levels, and no experience is necessary. All materials are provided, and you’ll be given a ready printed canvas to stitch on.
Claire holds an MFA in Embroidery from Manchester Metropolitan University, and is a lecturer in Textiles at The Northern School of Art.
Join Dr. Howard Coutts for a short introduction to the Norman Cornish exhibition.
Join us for a special open mic night inspired by Norman Cornish. Performance poet Tony Gadd will headline, joined by poets reading their work created at the recent workshop and fantastic local musicians. This will be a popular evening, so be sure to get there early to get a seat.
Join Claire Spooner from Quaintrelle Millinery to make a beautiful crin headpiece ready for Spring and Summer events. Crin is an elegant man-made material available in beautiful colours, perfect for light occasion headwear. Using a small disc on a headband as a base, you will work with crin to shape and trim your headpiece to your design, using simple hand-sewing. This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience, and is a great introduction to working with crin.
